Villa Amalfitana

Location and Surrounding Area

Located near Ravello’s center and overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, this elegant eight-bedroom villa boasts lush gardens and generous terraces offering wonderful sea views. With a calm atmosphere, this villa is the perfect place for a stylish and relaxing break on one of the most famous stretches of coastline in the Mediterranean. With a spectacular cliff-top setting facing the Tyrrhenian Sea, it is no wonder the Amalfi Coast is a must-visit destination on everyone's bucket list.

Tucked in between mountains and sea, Amalfi is a town best explored on foot. While Piazza Duomo and the main street are home to most of the town’s shops and restaurants, do spend some time wandering and exploring the quieter side streets, where you will find arched passageways, hidden gardens and tiny piazzas. The villa is also a few kilometers from Maiori, which is like an amphithetre at the end of Tramonti valley. Founded in the 9th century and rebuilt after a flood in 1954, today Maiori is a modern town.

The villa is just a stone’s throw away from Ravello. Sitting high in the hills above Amalfi, Ravello is famous for its ravishing gardens and stupendous views, the best in the world according to former resident Gore Vidal. The Ravello Festival is a classical music festival held in the gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, and in a fabulous auditorium designed by Oscar Niemeyer. Originally built for the Rufolo family, Villa Rufolo was remodeled in the 19th century by a Scottish enthusiast who preserved the Arabic elements.

The villa is also a few kilometers from Vietri sul Mare, a seaside resort exceptionally renowned for its ceramics. The majolica-decorated dome and bell tower of San Giovanni Battista have almost come to symbolize this town overlooking the Bay of Salerno. Cooking utensils, plates, vases and tiles have been made here since the 1400s. In the mid-18th century, Vietri sul Mare became known as the majolica-makers’ district, a suburb of Cava de’ Tirreni.

The villa is also a few kilometers from Positano. The town climbs the hills in steps, with the oldest houses in the upper part of Positano, either faded red or pink, decorated with Baroque stuccoes. Via Pasitea, the traffic-free street going down to the sea, penetrates the atmospheric heart of the town with its narrow stepped alleys, houses with vaulted roofs, terraces and tiny gardens that defy the rock. The bright colored articles Positano is famous for, on display outside the shops, blend well with the pastel-colored houses.

Villa Amalfitana is 61 km from Naples Capodichino International Airport and 289 km from Rome Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. Amalfi is just 2 km from the villa, Maiori is 3 km, Ravello is 6 km, Conca dei Marini is 6 km, Vietri sul Mare is 19 km, Positano is 19 km, Praiano is 23 km, Pompeii is 33 km, Nerano is 39 km, Herculaneum is 50 km, and Naples is 57 km.
